My visit to the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort
(after traveling all the way from England to Oz)

Click here to see the location of Monkey Mia

Within easy reach from Perth and Canarvon, the Monkey Mia dolphin resort is ideal for dolphin lovers from all over the world - like me.

Though there are many dolphins in the Monkey Mia waters there are usually about 7 dolphins that regularly come into the beach into the resort's 'dolphin interaction area'.
The dolphins are spotted bottlenose dolphins and there are 3 mature adults and 4 younger dolphins that love to come in and meet people. Sparky, Puck, Nicky, Piccolo, Shock, Kiya and Surprise are all lively dolphins and enjoy swimming and playing in front of the large numbers of people that come to watch them.
There are up to 3 feeds a day (depending on when the dolphins come and visit) where if you are fortunate (like I was) you may be chosen to feed a dolphin or two.

Ranger with cheeky dolphins

For me the whole experience was really great and was like nothing I have experienced before.
There are rangers there to supervise the visitors, as the dolphins know what they are doing, and they give talks during each session about not only the dolphins in general but also about the research team based at Monkey Mia and lots of other useful bits of information about some of the individuals in particular.

After being told about the different dolphins I was able to identify them by their unique dorsal fins - why don't you have a go…

Kiya Nicky Shock Surprise

If you haven't been to Monkey Mia before I would thoroughly recommend it. You can meet many of the dolphins including Shock and Nicky.
